Care and Keeping of Colored Pencil Jewelry
I’ve got some tips and tricks for taking care of your pieces.
While I tell everyone to keep their items away from sunlight and take them off when swimming, showering, working out, etc, I myself don’t. I put them through everything to see how well they hold up. And possibly because they are part of a ritual, or I’m just lazy and don’t feel like removing it all the time.
This piece is one of the first that I ever created. I hung it from my rear-view mirror right after, and haven’t taken it down since. I’ve only noticed this year that it’s yellowed.
Color pencil also has a tendency to fade or alter in color if left in the sunlight too long. While I think the resin protects it some, it is still possible for the color to change a bit over time, especially if you love
Resin Care
When not wearing, keep your jewelry out of the sunlight. Use a drawer or jewelry box to keep everything clean, dry, and out of the sunlight. This will keep the colors vibrant.
Take your jewelry off when you’re swimming, exercising, or showering.
Remove rings when washing your hands.
Silver Care
Take off when showering, swimming, exercising, etc.
Take off when washing hands if it’s a ring or bracelet.
If the silver begins to tarnish, you can use a gentle polish. Keep the polish just to the silver portion.
